If you have concerns about your child’s learning your first contact will be our child’s class teacher – they then may decide to refer you to the Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO). In some cases a member of the team may contact you directly.

The school has an outstanding inclusion team consisting of:  Jadedene French (SENCO, ARP Manager),Sam Sexton (Learning Mentor), Caleb Joseph 

As well as supporting class teachers in providing differentiated work and interventions to develop children’s learning, they are responsible for:

• Coordinating all the support for children SEND and developing the school’s SEND Policy to make sure all children get a consistent, high quality response to meeting their needs in school.

• Ensuring that you, as parents/ carers, are: involved in supporting your child’s learning; kept informed about the support your child is getting; involved in reviewing how they are doing.

• Liaising with all professionals who may be coming into school to help support your child’s learning for example,  Speech and Language Therapy and Educational Psychology.

• Updating the school’s SEND register (a system for ensuring all the SEND needs of pupils in this school are known) and making sure that there are excellent records of your child’s progress and needs.

• Maintaining the school Map of Provision which lists all types of support every child on the SEND register has.

• Providing specialist support for teachers and support staff in the school so they can help children with SEND in the school achieve the best progress possible.

• Reporting data and progress of children with SEND to Senior Leadership.

• Running or organising effective Professional Development sessions for teaching staff to increase skills and knowledge or meet  particular needs.

• Arranging meetings with all professional and parents to ensure the highest possible outcomes for children on the SEND register.

Pastoral Care Team.

Sam Sexton (Learning Mentor), Caleb Joseph  (Learning Mentor) form the pastoral care team at Queensbridge.  They are responsible for:

​

• 1-1 and small group support to help with emotional and behavioural support

• Monitoring incidents of behaviour across school, spotting patterns and raising it with class teachers and Senior Leadership

• Creating behaviour support plans for individual children

• Our restorative approaches to behaviour

• Running specific interventions such as SEAL groups and Circle of Friends

• Weekly meetings with SENCO to identify issues and timetable support

• Run support staff meetings
